Description
The 309-grade stainless steel filler rod is suitable for welding 18/8 (304) austenitic stainless steel whilst providing good corrosion and wear resistance. 309 stainless steel is often used on restaurant and distillery equipment, chemical tanks, and in the manufacturing of welding wire. It is a continuous solid corrosion resisting chromium-nickel wire for joining stainless steels to non-alloy or low alloy steels.
309 stainless steel typically contains about 20% chromium and an average of 11% nickel. The high levels of Cr and Ni, as well as a high ferrite content, allows the weld metal to withstand dilution from carbon and low alloy steels without hot cracking. It has intensified Silicon content to improve fluidity of the melt pool with minium spatter and porosity, this results in a nice, smooth weld surface and enhances results.
This product can also be purchased in 1.0mm and 1.2mm.
