Description
The PMUC certified Ardrox 9PR5 is a water-white, clear and moveable liquid for use as a penetrant remover of visible red dyes and fluorescent penetrants. As well as this, the 9PR5 can be used as a pre-cleaner before applying penetrants, to remove oil and grease. In the nuclear and allied industries, where non-chlorinated solvent-type penetrant removers are a requirement, Ardrox 9PR5 is ideally suited for use. It is safe for use on common metals including stainless and mild steel as well as magnesium, copper, aluminium and cadmium. It may have a softening/ swelling effect on some rubbers and plastics.
The aerosol is fast drying which makes it easy to use and has a low sulphur, halogen and alkali metal content.
Directions for use
When used for pre-cleaning, the 9PR5 is best used by spray or immersion but it could also be applied by other appropriate techniques like brushing or applying with a cloth.
Ardrox 9PR5 is then used to remove traces of final excess penetrant from the surface of products after they have been suitably pre-cleaned, applied with penetrant and given sufficient contact time. This is best performed when the aerosol is applied with a cloth or tissue and wiped over the surface. The application should continue until the cloth does not pick up any penetrant. After the excess has been removed, the components should be coated in a thin, even coat of developer.
