The WS54A Tweco Weldskill Gas Diffuser fits Tweco No. 3 and No. 4 MIG guns. The tip adaptor is a secondary consumable that holds the contact tip. This is used so that the part that wears by the repeated changing of the contact tip is replaceable and does not wear the actual torch neck.
On some designs of torch, the tip adaptor doubles up as the shielding gas diffuser.
