The 5556 aluminium alloy TIG rod contains 5.3% magnesium content for welding aluminium alloys with up to approx 5% magnesium that is not aged hardenable and alloys where higher tensile strength is required.
It is suitable for use in the marine atmosphere, where good corrosion resistance is required. This grade of alumimium is normally used in 5083 (N8) and for military applications.
