JAD-2 White Developer Aerosol 400ml

Johnson & Allen offer a range of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) approved aerosols within their range which are used for the inspection of welded fabrications to evaluate the properties of the material. These fabrications predominately would include structures, pressure vessels, pipes and non-ferrous components.

What is the role of the Developer?

The white developer is designed to search the defects and pull out the trapped penetrant onto the surface of the component for the inspector to view. The fine developer particles both reflect and refract the incident ultraviolet light, allowing more of it to interact with the penetrant, causing more efficient fluorescence. The developer also allows more light to be emitted through the same mechanism. This is why indications are brighter than the penetrant itself under UV light. Another function that some developers perform is to create a white background so there is a greater degree of contrast between the indication and the surrounding background.

Features & Benefits

• The JAD-2 product is a white liquid developer suitable for use with red penetrant testing processes.
• The aerosol application gives a thin uniformed coverage on the material before allowing sufficient time to develop.
• Once inspection of the material/component is completed, the JAD-2 is then removed using a penetrant cleaner (ie. JAC-2).
• ASME, military and nuclear standards.
• Available as a 400ml aerosol.

What is NDT?

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a testing and analysis technique used by industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, structure or system for characteristic differences or welding defects and discontinuities without causing damage to the original part. This process allows for an item to be repaired rather than replaced should any problems be found with the welded material.

We also offer the JAP Penetrant and the JAC-2 Cleaner to complete the NDT aerosol kit.
