JAP Red Dye Penetrant Aerosol 400ml
Johnson & Allen offer a range of NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) approved aerosols within their range which are used for the inspection of welded fabrications to evaluate the properties of the material. These fabrications predominately would include structures, pressure vessels, pipes and non-ferrous components.
What is NDT?
Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a testing and analysis technique used by industry to evaluate the properties of a material, component, structure or system for characteristic differences or welding defects and discontinuities without causing damage to the original part. This process allows for an item to be repaired rather than replaced should any problems be found with the welded material.
The JAP product is a deep red coloured liquid used in penetrant testing applications.
Features & Benefits
• JAP is water washable and is best used on grease-free, clean components and materials whereby excess surface coatings are removed before the inspection.
• The product is certified to meet Halogen and Sulphur levels primarily required by ASME, military and nuclear standards.
• The hydrocarbon carrier fluid with additives is used within the content which enhances an increased level of inspection integrity and the searching properties of the dye.
• Available as a 400ml aerosol or a 5ltr bulk container.
• The propellant ratio is improved through the use of a CO2 propellant which increases the activity of the product when applied to the material.

What is Liquid Penetrant Testing?
Liquid penetrant testing involves the application of a fluid with low viscosity to the material to be tested. This fluid seeps into any defects such as cracks or porosity before a developer is applied which allows the penetrant liquid to seep upwards and create a visible indication of the flaw. Liquid penetrant tests can be conducted using solvent removable penetrants & water washable penetrants (such as JAP).
